ID Check: FOI / EIR and personal data

Freedom of Information and Data Protection are often considered as different disciplines, but they are locked together. Not just because they share a regulator (the Information Commissioner) but because many requests deliberately ask for identifiable personal data or capture it automatically.

The aim of this entertaining and practical course is to help you to deal with requests that include personal data, but also how to ensure that people who might be affected understand when data about them might be disclosed.

Includes:

  • the definition of personal data and its relationship to statistics and small numbers

  • salaries, job descriptions and other job-related data

  • senior versus junior staff

  • complaints, complainants and public processes

  • information in emails and correspondence

  • personal data about people who are the subject of investigations and controversies

  • information about the deceased

£100 + VAT for one person to view recording or £500 + VAT for inhouse (no limit on numbers)
