Some issues run through the UK GDPR like words through a stick of rock; there’s no single place to read about them because references are scattered throughout. One of these issues is how DP treats data about children.
On this practical and thought-provoking course, we’ll look at everything that GDPR and the Data Protection Act says about children and young people, from consent to exemptions, as well as considering issues that have different impacts when subjects are children. And of course, we’ll investigate the Information Commissioner’s age appropriate design code, AKA the Children’s Code.
Includes:
-
Consent for information society services vs consent for everything else
-
The Data Protection Age of Consent and what Scotland has to tell everyone else
-
Transparency for tots through to teens (OK, you probably won’t be giving transparency to very small children but I liked how it sounded)
-
Legitimate interests
-
Rights exercised by and on behalf of children: managing risks and acting in young people’s interests
-
Using AI in apps and services aimed at children
-
The Children’s Code
