If you want to read a guide that explains how to implement data protection legislation, you’re spoilt for choice. Some are great, others are also available.

If you want sample questions for That American Qualification Everyone Thinks They Need, ditto.

Want a book about AI Governance? The world is your oyster. There are no end of options.

But is there a book containing 250 perplexing scenarios about data protection set in a fictional universe, populated by weirdos, tech bros, psychos and…. actually, I didn’t find room for sex toys. Maybe volume 2? Anyway no, there isn’t.

Now, there is, because I’ve written it. The DPO Daily Challenge covers a wide range of DP-related puzzlers – subject access, transparency, impact assessments: they’re all in here, mixed up with fraught disciplinaries, unreasonable complainants, naked protestors, diabolical data breaches, robots with dangerous aim and allegations about dog syphillis. Some are serious, some are bizarre, but all will test your data protection knowledge.

You can try one every day (not including weekends), you can use them in training courses, you can binge them all in a single sitting, testing the limits of your sanity in the process. But maybe you shouldn’t do that.

The DPO Daily Challenge is available in April 2026. Sign up below and not only will you get early notification of when it’s released, you’ll also be invited to exclusive online Q+A events where you can try out the questions and ask me the DP questions you’ve never dared ask before. Everyone who registers by the end of February can claim a special gift if they buy the book.

You’ll also be able to apply to be one of the Challengers, a small group of volunteers who get a free copy of the book in return for shamelessly promoting it as well as possibly the most coveted of all the 2040 merchandise.

SPOILER: you just have to do a video where you film yourself answering a question and seeing what you think of the answer. It’s not a big ask.

OTHER SPOILER: The FOI Daily Challenge + the FOISA Daily Challenge are also on their way later in 2026. Subscribers can also get updates on when they will arrive.
